ON DEMAND PRODUCTION WORKSHOPS

FOR HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES

Design your own workshop to suit your classroom needs.

THE CREW offers a one day video production workshop in our new media facility at Miranda in Southern Sydney. Designed for year 9 - year 12 students the workshops are 'hands on' intensives taking students through the processes, techniques, technology and principles related to television and media production. 

Our studio is a multi-camera live production facility with up to 6 edit stations if required. We also have a wide range of lighting and audio equipment. The equipment student use is 'State of the Art' while also being suitable for the high school environment.

This is 'DESIGN A WORKSHOP...... Each workshop can be tailored to suit the specific needs and curriculum requirements of your class. We cater for up to 25 students per workshop with a required minimum of 15.

Topics offered include:

* Simgle camera operation * Multi camera operation * Filming a performance * Editing * Project planning and management * Video production for the HSC Major work student.* Multi track music recording * Dance for Video * Drama for video * Lighting (convensional and moving).* Presenting to camera * Sound Production * Set design * Design your own

Some typical workshop scenario include:-

1) GENERAL WORKSHOP

an introductory workshop that provides an overview of the principles, processes and equipment used in the video production environment. The workshop has a ranger of activities to introduce the students to basic camera work, live production as well as lighting, audio, acquisition and editing.

2) DANCE WORKSHOP

Students take part in planning and conduction a live video shoot of a dance sequence. Session 1 sees the dance class taken through the relevant techniques and principles. In the second session students get to record their own pre - prepaired dance using the techniques learned in session 1.

3) DRAMA WORKSHOP

Students brainstorm, rehearse and film a re-planned drama sequence. Once again the day starts of with an introduction to equipment and processes and then swings to planning and producing a short drama sequence. The dance class become the crew and selected members provide the talent for the shoot.

4) MUSIC WORKSHOP

Students record and film a musical performance from a member /s of their team. Session 1 walks them through the process of multi-track recording, lighting and video production in general. In session 2 students brainstorm the approach to recording and filming a performance an them execute their ideas.

HSC VIDEO MAJOR WORKS

Video Production Intensive Workshop

This workshop is designed for student planning video major works in Extension English, Drama, Visual Arts, Dance or Digital Media. It is a one day hands on intensive in the processes that give rise to the effective production of a video major work for the HSC.

Completing Video 101 will contribute 6 Hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing 2.1.2, 2.6.2 and 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

The world of video production has changed dramatically over the last few years. The quality and accessibility of technology along with changing culture of communications creates exciting possibilities for the classroom and offers new ways to engage our students in the learning process.

Schools Broadcasting Australia Pty Ltd, producers of ‘THE CREW’ on SBS Television for 20 years are now offers a one day video production workshop in our multi camera media facility at Miranda, Southern Sydney.

Participating teachers will be given the opportunity to explore the processes and possibilities for their own classrooms through participation in a range of activities and brainstorming sessions assisted by provided classroom resources.
